Using a full double 9 set, players aim to get rid of their dominoes while keeping their score as low as possible across a series of rounds. It has the familiar feel of classic dominoes, with a clever twist that creates branching layouts (or chicken feet).

Each round starts with a specific double placed in the centre, beginning with double 9 and working down to double 0 over ten rounds. If no player holds the required starting double, players draw from the chicken yard until it appears. The player who draws it starts the round, with play continuing clockwise.

Players must match the starting double if possible. If they cannot, they draw one tile and play it if able, or pass. This continues until all sides of the centre double are filled. Once complete, players may continue building from any exposed matching end.

When a double is played, it is placed at right angles and creates a “chickenfoot”. The next three plays must branch off that double before normal play resumes. Rounds end when a player uses all their dominoes or no further moves are possible, with scores based on the pips left in hand. After all ten rounds, the player with the lowest total score wins.

The rules are simple to pick up, but the changing layouts and chickenfoot moments keep every round interesting. It’s an ideal choice if you’re looking for something a little different from standard domino games without adding too much complexity.
