9×9 Wei Qi Boards – overview

Dual-Side Wooden Go Board – 13 x 13 & 9 x 9 Layout
This is an entry-level, dual sided wooden Go board with both the 13 x 13 and 9 x 9 layouts. It features an MDF core with a nice beech wood veneer. It is entry-level, but good quality and very practical. It has a 9 x 9 grid on one side and 13 x 13 on the other, meaning the player can learn the game on the smallest layout and gradually progress to the slightly more complex 13 x 13 layout. It’s also ideal for players that want a quick game.

9 x 9 Go Board (36mm thick, beech wood veneer, no stones)
This is a good quality, compact-sized wooden Go board that has an MDF core and nice beech veneer. It features a smaller 9 x 9 playfield, ideal for newcomers to the game. The board has a good weight and substantial thickness at nearly 4cm. It makes it a durable equipment.

9 x 9 Table Go Board with Legs (Beech Veneer)
This is another compact-sized, good quality Goban with the smaller 9 x 9 playfield. An added feature to this board are the 4 legs that raise the playfield and elevate the aesthetic – they also allow the board to be picked up and moved mid-match. The board has a good weight and substantial thickness at nearly 4cm. It has an MDF core with a nice beech veneer that gives it the appearance of a solid wooden board.

Dual Sided 13/9 Table Go Board (Hiba / New Kaya)
If you’re looking for an authentic board, this board is for you. Japanese made by Go specialist Kurokigoishiten, the board is made up of 3 – 4 pieces of Hiba or New Kaya – both woods are highly revered for Go board manufacture – with the beautiful wood grain prominent on both playing sides. This board features a 9 x 9 layout on one side and 13 x 13 layout on reverse, making it ideal for quick Go games as well as for learning the game. It will also make a beautiful gift for a games / chess enthusiast.

13×13 Wei Qi Gobans – overview

13 x 13 Wooden Go Board (36mm thick, beech veneer)
This is a good quality ‘intermediate’ board. Whilst it’s made from MDF, it has a nice beech wood veneer which gives it the appearance of a solid wood composition. It also has a nice thickness to it of approximately 4cm.

13 x 13 Wooden Go Board with Legs (36mm thick, beech veneer)
This is a good quality goban, made from MDF with a beech veneer. It is around 4cm thick and features small legs that raise the playfield and add to the aesthetic. These also allow the board to be picked up and moved during gameplay without disturbing the stones.

19×19 WeiQi Boards – overview

Go Board – Wooden (stones not included) – 19 x 19 & 13 x 13 Layout
This is a standard full-size wooden board that features a 19 x 19 grid and 13 x 13 layout on the reverse, for faster games. It has a veneer surface that will suit more casual players and beginner’s requirements. Overall, it is a decent size and represents great value.

Wooden Go Board – 36mm
Another full-size, good quality Go table board, made in the Czech Republic. It features a composition wood core with a beechwood veneer. The opposite sides of two edges of the board are made of real wood showing a realistic end-grain giving the impression of a solid wood board. Board is approximately 3.6cm thick, giving it a nice solid feel and reducing the chances of board movement spoiling the game midway through. It also minimises the risk of board warping over time.

This is another Goban made in the Czech Republic. It is a beautiful board that features a composition wood core with a beechwood veneer. Shin Kaya is generally regarded as one of the finest materials for the production of Go equipment and this fine table board is ideal for Go enthusiasts looking to upgrade their set.
