Description
Said to have been passed down from the time of the ancient Incas, Liar’s Dice is a classic game of bluffing and chance. Players attempt to outbid, out-bluff, and outlast one another by making issuing bids or calling each other out at just the right moment.
This set includes four dice shakers and four sets of five dice, all neatly stored in a decorative wooden box shaped like an oversized die. It looks great on display and keeps everything together between games.
The gameplay is often compared to poker, but with dice and even more emphasis on bluffing. Each player rolls their dice in secret and then makes a claim about what they have e.g. ‘three fours’ or a ‘straight’ (2-3-4-5-6). The next player must decide whether to call the bluff or raise the stakes by rolling and making a stronger claim of their own. Anyone caught out lying has to add a counter to the pot.
As the game goes on, accusations fly and nerves are tested. The most skillful players learn to appear completely innocent, tempting others into making incorrect challenges. It usually ends with a clear winner, and always with plenty of laughter and friendly rivalry.
A great choice for groups who enjoy a bit of theatre, plenty of bluffing, and games where confidence can be just as important as luck.
