Rope quoits developed on ships - sailors used quoits made from rope and either attached a stake to a wall or used an upstanding part of the ship (such as the belaying pin) as a target. Emigrants from England who naturally travelled by sea, took the game of rope quoits to the British colonies where it is still played now - especially in Australia. The game of Deck Quoits also became very popular on cruise ships in the 1920s - and is this continues on cruises to this day.
We recommend single stake Quoits rather than Cross quoits, as it is more skillful and we think more enjoyable.
